Decided this year to log each book as I finish it. At the end of last year I was attempting to document all of the books that I had read during the year and I realized I couldn’t. This year I’m going to attempt to log them as I go. I don’t get a whole lot of time to read, particularly what I call ‘leisure’ books, but I do read as much as I can between family, work, farming etc. is a busy life. It takes me forever to read…read more

As was expected yesterday we spent time cutting the folks grass so today was more or less a get all we can done today Rain We have had a good rain almost every day I think going on 4 days now – rain makes pumpkins happy Blackberries I have been trying for almost a week to plant turnips and I swear its one thing after another – connected to the bed we had planned to plant the turnips I had a Natchez blackberry bush that is one of the lone…read more

Rain again today – good rain for 30 minutes or so this afternoon. Lot of cleaning up around the ‘yard’ today – just stuff kind of scattered from various projects ranging irrigation to building bee boxes to working in garden beds. I prefer to keep everything organized but it gets away from you really fast – have to clean as you go. Threw some buckwheat seeds into the last bed the chickens were in and raked them in. Did a little weed eating between the beds. Harvest 2 Eggs –…read more

FINALLY some rain today. Had to do a little running around after work, spend some time with family not a lot of ‘farm work’ done today. The pumpkins are doing excellent. The plants that is no ‘pumpkins’ yet but flowers are imminent. Lima beans are doing well also but something has eaten the true leaves on a few of them so looking for pests. Kahlula our Brown Swiss/Jersey cross is looking like she may be due a month earlier than we thought. By that I mean late September. I really…read more

Finally a little little little bit of rain today. Not much but was nice to have it if only for a little while. Not a lot of outside work planted a few flowers early this morning. Moved the chicken tractor. They sure do a nice job when contained :). Direct sowed some spaghetti, butternut and crookneck squash. We’ve had pretty good luck with rainbows since we moved here – I have some pictures somewhere of the ‘end’ of a rainbow…to the individuals that started the rumor about the pot of…read more

Cut the grass in the first pasture – little work with Kahlula to start preparing for a milking routine. No gardening work today – pretty sure we will spend the bulk of Saturday in the garden to prepare beds for the fall – it has been so dog gone hot – mostly I have just been mulching with leaves and hay trying to keep the soil from scorching. Tomatoes at this point are spent. Watermelons are on their way out and about the only thing we have ‘growing’ are peppers…read more

His Hand in Mine

Posted by in Uncategorized

You may ask me how I know my Lord is real (My Lord is real) You may doubt the things I say and doubt the way I feel (The way I feel) But I know He’s real today He’ll always be ( He’ll always be) I can feel His hand in mine and that’s enough for me I will never walk alone He holds my hand (He holds my hand) He will guide each step I take And if I fall, I know He’ll understand Till the day He tells…read more

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Posted by in Uncategorized

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, Mount of Thy redeeming love. Sorrowing I shall be in spirit, Till released from flesh and sin, Yet from what I do inherit, Here Thy praises I’ll begin; Here I raise my Ebenezer; Here by Thy great help I’ve come; And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, Safely to…read more
