Wednesday, August 6th

The plants that is no ‘pumpkins’ yet but flowers are imminent. Lima beans are doing well also but something has eaten the true leaves on a few of them so looking for pests.

For the time being I’m going to take into account my/our lack of experience and go by the calendar which we had as October 26th but I won’t be surprised if its a month earlier.
2 Eggs – We’re going to order some new chicks (the bird kind) in the next few days these are past ‘stew’ age and

“Old Folks at Home”
by Stephen Foster, 1851
Way down upon de Swanee Ribber,

Dere’s wha de old folks stay.
All up and down de whole creation
Sadly I roam,
Still longing for de old plantation,
And for de old folks at home.
